Thanksgiving, We Pray

Sorry for the delay! Been kind of down on the weather...
Here goes nothing. Awfully tired and kind of miserable with the rainy weather we've been having, but I will try to be semi-okay on this post.
So, we had a Thanksgiving with the whole family, and it was great. We had loads of fun and I found so many photo opportunities!

More work!
Us sitting down to the table.

Fretting over dishes. Piles and piles of dishes.

We always get some scratch cards on Thanksgiving.

My Florida mug all filled up with parsley. And Ruffles with Onion Dip - my favorite kind of dip that we only get twice a year.

Some tea in the coffee maker.

Here's a closer image of the daisies, but all of the images became slightly blurred when I loaded them onto the computer, which really takes away from the beauty and I apologize for that.

As I have said - I love flowers in jars. So this jar filled with some sort of daisies - they're a weed, and it's something like Coreopas, I'm sorry, but I do not know how to spell it - made my Thanksgiving. I thought it was gorgeous.

Ah, yes, my favorite tea mug. We aren't even sure where we got it, but it's just perfect. Now, it's used to hold parsley. And there is our dining room table, all set and ready for supper.

When the dog bites; when the bee stings...

I'm sorry that this is so messed up looking, with all the long pictures and everything. But I'm bad at blogging.

When I'm feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad! Sorry... I'm on a Sound of Music run right now...
I took all these photos - for the first time in maybe the 3 years I've owned my camera, I haven't once hooked it up to my computer with the little cable and put my pictures onto my laptop. So today I did, and here they are... oh, and not all of these are "favorites," but I like these photos. So...

My puppy, Pesto. She's adorable. Most dogs eat out of the bowl, but she brings her food over to a corner and drops like four pieces, then eats them up. She's just so sweet! Even though she kind of hates everyone else, but she loves the family and that's what counts.
Chandeliers. I adore them, and the house came with a few (the first one) - though we bout some of our own (i.e; the second one; the one with the strawberries and fruits). I think they add beauty and age to any house.

Flowers. Gorgeous.

My Mother's Thai and (I want to say... not sure...) Indonesian art pieces. Especially those four guys on the right.

Glassy-babies. They're so gorgeous. We have six. Two yellows, two reds and two different colors of blue.

I love these pictures. Don't ask me why... But I just like them. From left to right, that's toothpaste (yes, I know), spoons and my shoes with blue and yellow laces.

These tiles are gorgeous. The kitchen floor is all terra cotta, with squares like these interspersed. I love them to death, if that makes sense, even though they're tiles...

That's "Marklar" - no, I didn't name it - one of our chickens. She's so much prettier than the other chicken - Bo Peep - but they're both so sweet. Okay, well maybe Marklar is kind of mean, but that's all right.

These gorgeous flowers - okay, maybe not that pretty, but I like the contrast.

My Eggling! My friend Kelsey bought it for me before she moved, and I thought it was just the cutest thing! You crack open an "egg" and place some seeds in, and then you water them and then it just grows and makes cute little... sprouts! Mine never grew up properly, but they were still adorable.

Fallification

Fallification
noun
1 alter (personality, decoration, actions or attitude) so as to be more autumnal* in ones life.
2 to create a setting representative of fall or autumn.
The fallification downtown is lovely; I love the Christmas lights and falling leaves.

Yes, I did just make that up. Yes, you should use it in your everyday life. And I have been fully fallified.
*see Autumn (in a dictionary. I love the definitions of words like that.)
So here's a toast to my last few fallifying and humbling days, and a toast to my first commenter "T". Thanks so much! I really needed that booster, I feel so great now. And yes, I adore those shoes too! The whole Marc by Marc Jacobs line is amazing.

So guess what I came down with? Correct... a cold. And it's awful. Not just one of those sneezing, runny nose, coughing deals, but a full blown cold. The worst I've ever had - but I've been pretty light on sicknesses so far. I have sinus headaches, I've been drowsy, feverish, had a sore throat, shivers, an icky stomach, and I've been freezing then boiling, etc. But you probably don't want to hear me whine. That's not what I'm here for.
But it just makes me appreciate my favorite season - autumn - more. I love this feeling (not the cold, sick feeling), but the fall feeling. When you have a cold and you sit in front of the fireplace with fuzzy socks on reading all day. I love that. It's what I live for.
Speaking of which... we started our first fire this week! I was so thrilled. I love fireplaces, especially. I would spend my life in front of one, when it's snowing outside and your feet are cold and you're sitting in a big cushy armchair.

In honor of the cold season, I will share some of my favorite cold remedies.
1. Shred ginger root (or use ground ginger) and add boiling water and mint leaves. (preferably lemon mint?) Do not use a microwave, really, make the extra effort and boil it. Strain the water into a cup and add freshly squeezed lemon juice and honey. It worked for me and it didn't taste too bad. (I got that little tip right here: http://naturalcurereviews.com/remedy10-1-colds.html - that's where most of the cold hints today came from. How I do love Google.)
2. Drink lots of water.
3. Take a tablespoon of honey in your tea, when you wake up, when you go to bed and around lunch time. I love honey and it apparently has anti-bacterial properties so I assume it's helping me get better.
4. Make sure you are getting enough vitamin c.
5. "Gargle with apple cider vinegar and salt." (from the same site.)
6. Cough up all of your phlegm - I know, it's disgusting.
7. For a sore throat, gargling with warm water and salt tends to work great.
8. Cory, from Regina, Canada says that at first sign of a cold, put one drop of clove oil under your tongue. "I will warn you, it tastes like hell, but I haven't had a cold in years!" (from the same site as above.)
9. Blow your nose! Otherwise it will just get worse.
10. Lots of rest! I've been taking naps - I know... pathetic - and getting to bed early. Rest helps a lot, honestly.
11. Hot liquids are great.
12. Keep hydrated!
13. Raspberry leaves, honey and lemon juice in hot water are great. (Just a hint: No honey to kids under a year old!)
14. Steamy showers. Unless you're dizzy, then stay away from the shower, just in case you fall, since that would be horrible.

So, Christmas is coming up. What's on your list?
I know what I want. [considering we're on a "budget" - stupid economy. - this year, my limit is $60]
1. The Domino - The Book of Decorating: a room-by-room guide to creating a home that makes you happy.
I don't think anyone can comprehend how much I love Domino. The whole month, all I do is wait for it. That's what my months are filled with: waiting for the next edition. I have them all saved up in a box in my room, and I revisit the old ones throughout the month. So I was positively thrilled when they announced that they would be producing a book.
2. And there was a pair of slippers in the October edition of Domino (or November? I was reading the November on a road trip and it got lost but I'm pretty sure it was November...) at least, one of the latest editions, and they looked gorgeous. I need a decent pair of slippers, so that's what I'm getting.
What are you asking for? Please, comment.
